On the evening of July 31st, the results of the 12th batch of national centralized procurement were announced. All 65 drugs in this centralized procurement were successfully purchased. Overall, a total of 859 products and 495 enterprises participated in the bidding, and ultimately 521 products and 327 enterprises were selected, with the selection rates being 60.7% and 66.1% respectively. Both indicators showed an improvement compared to the 11th batch.
The proposed selected varieties this time cover fields such as anti-infection, anti-tumor, anti-thrombosis, hypoglycemic, antihypertensive, lipid-lowering, rheumatoid arthritis and anti-inflammatory analgesia. 45,000 medical institutions nationwide participated in the bidding, making this the largest batch in the history of national procurement. According to the official announcement, only the list of proposed selected enterprises was released this time, without disclosing the specific selected prices.
Industry analysts point out that this round of centralized procurement further widens the operational differentiation among pharmaceutical companies. For enterprises with sufficient pipeline reserves and continuously applying for new varieties of generic drugs, centralized procurement serves as a low-cost channel for market expansion; for those relying on a single blockbuster existing product, the risks brought by centralized procurement bidding continue to increase.
Subsequently, on the one hand, enterprises need to continuously enrich their generic drug pipelines and launch new products in a steady stream to hedge against the risks of price reductions and loss of tenders for old varieties; on the other hand, they should accelerate the layout of off-hospital retail and Internet medical channels to reduce their sole dependence on the centralized procurement market of public hospitals. In the long run, the acceleration of generic drug enterprises' transformation towards innovative drugs has become a clear trend in the industry
